Lumberjacks

Lumberjack sports are filled with precision and technical detail, but there is another critical factor involved in winning: the art of chopping or sawing. In making this series of bronze sculptures, I work to capture the art of being a successful competitor. Facial expression, wrinkles in clothing, and imperfections in the chopping block all aid in depicting the fluid, muscular motion and fierce determination that reflect the art in lumberjack sports.
