Averara Arc is made from molds from chestnut trees in the Italian Alps. The bark texture covers the top and bottom of the arc while the sides are polished bronze. Hanging from the tip of the arc is amber-colored cast glass from a mold of the 3,000 year old Castagno Cento Cavalli (Hundred Horse Chestnut) from the slopes of Etna in Sicily. While the sculpture is structurally stable, it is connected to the steel base by a stainless steel rod that allows the entire arc to bob gently when touched.
